CLIFTON PARK - Richard "Dick" J. Lawya, 84, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2019 at the Gateway House of Peace in Ballston Spa.
Dick was born on April 19, 1935 in Schenectady and was the son of the late Richard H. and Alida F. (Lavin) Lawya. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and attained the rank of Private. He worked as a machine operator for Georgia Pacific in Scotia for many years before retiring. He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing.
Dick is the devoted husband of 64 years to Dorothy J. (Bariteau) Lawya. He is also survived by children, Lori J. Colello, Amy L. Cook, Lisa F. Ragotskie, and Marc R. Lawya; 12 grandchildren, Nicole, Meagan, Katie and Steven Orologio, Michael, Nicholas and Christopher Colello, Leah, Danielle and Christopher Cook, Lynne and Matthew Ragotskie and two great grandchildren, Matthew Ragotskie Jr. and Harper Lou Colello. He was predeceased by his children, Kevin R. Lawya and Debra M. Orologio, and his brother, William.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
