East Greenbush- Richard Christian Loesch, age 83, passed away surrounded by family on January 6, 2019 at Albany Medical Center.
Born in Sekitsch in the former Yugoslavia, he immigrated to the US with his parents, Christian and Christine Loesch in 1952.
Richard was an honorably discharged US Army veteran, stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning from duty, he worked for Streck's Machine Shop and then retired from the Watervliet Arsenal as Mechanical Shop Superintendent after over 30 years of service.
He was a 59 year member of the Ancient Temple Lodge F & AM #14 and was the past president and trustee of the German-American Club of Albany.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his infant daughter, Christine and by his two infant sisters.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years Helmi Loesch; his son Richard Loesch Jr. (Andrea); three daughters: Erika Bacher (Jon), Amy Konisky (Steve) and Susan Bell (Adam); six grandchildren: Nicholas and Alexander Bacher, Hailey and Jacob Konisky and Brady and Adam Bell Jr. Also survived by several cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from 4 to 7 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY. All are invited to attend his funeral services at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.
Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Richard's name to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital or to a charity of ones choice.
