ALBANY, NY – Richard Lucey, Sr., 70, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2008, at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, after a long illness. He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Grace and Cornelius Lucey. Mr. Lucey worked for the New York State Dept. of Law and retired after 20 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and bowling and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the NY Giants. Richard was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church in Albany, NY.
He is survived by Elizabeth of Schenectady and their children; Richard (Paul), Teresa, Bernadine (Jeffrey), Constance, Jennifer and Kathleen. He is the brother of Tom (Margaret), Jerry (Barbara), Michael, Joanne, Helen and the late Paul. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Marie, Amanda, Ashley, Natalie, Jeannette, Benjamin and Mia, as well as many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Albany Regional Kidney Center and the staff from the Albany Medical Center and St. Peter's Hospital and Dr. Gary Bakst for the care and support given to Richard during his illness.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday 8:00am from New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave.), then to Blessed Sacrament Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00am. Calling hours will be Monday from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush, NY.
