Richard M. Garbellano

GLENVILLE-Richard M. Garbellano, 64, passed away May 3, after a long and courageous battle for life.
He attended St. Paul's Elementary School and graduated from Bishop Gibbons High School, 1968. As a youngster, he and his parents and brother, Robert, lived on Marriott Avenue, in Schenectady, NY. The boys worked with their father at G and M Services, once located at the corner of Union Street and Palmer Avenue.
After two years of business courses in Albany he spent 7 years in the NY Army National Guard. Richard ("Gabby") was a Motor Sergeant with the 210th Armor, Company B on New Scotland Ave, Albany. He worked with several tire and petroleum hauling companies utilizing his skills in sales, accounting, office management and operations including JA Carman Trucking in Albany, NY. Richard enjoyed making people laugh and chatting with friends.
He is preceded in death by his beloved mother Silvia (Conte) and father Ralph Garbellano. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Linda (Lemmerman). They were married on May 3, 1975, and reside in Glenville, NY.
Richard had medical issues for most of the past 10 years but he always projected good humor, thoughtfulness, strength and courage. He has been grateful to his health care providers and friends at Ellis Hospital. He fondly remembers the members of St. Peter's Hospital Radiation Oncology team. He also thanks the Mt. Sanai Medical Center (NY, NY) for considering him for a liver transplant and the caring staff of Fresenius Dialysis Center in Schenectady.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, May 17, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 140 Maple Ave., Altamont, NY, at 11:00 am with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu flowers, sign up to be an organ donor, give blood regularly, adopt a pet, and donate to an animal protective organization.
