Richard E. Mabeus Sr.

February 17, 1936 — April 3, 2021

In loving memory of our father, brother, husband and friend Richard E. Mabeus Sr. who after a long and bravely fought battle was quietly called home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday April 3rd, 2021.

Dick as he was called by his loved ones and friends served in the 27th Armored Division United States Army, New York Army National Guard from 1954-1960.

Afterward he married his wife and for the next 64 years they lived a busy and productive life, raising three sons, and enjoying four grandchildren.

He enjoyed automobiles, building, woodworking and projects of all types and sizes. He was even know to fish and camp from time to time. He always kept his hands busy and his sons too as he always had a project for us to do with him!

Dick generously shared his friendly and humorous attitude with his neighbors, friends, and family while helping them anyway he could.

A dependable father, husband, brother, friend, employee and citizen, Dick was well liked and loved and will be greatly missed in this life, but we will meet him again! That's because at the end of his life he believed in Jesus.

As it's written in 1st Thessalonians 4:13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. 14 For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. 15 For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.

His earthly time may be over, but his new life in Christ Jesus is just beginning and you can have the same as seen in Romans 8: 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9 that if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with your heart you believe and are justified, and with your mouth you confess and are saved.

11 It is just as the Scripture says: "Anyone who believes in Him will never be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Greek [anyone and every person is God's creation]: The same Lord is Lord of all, and gives richly to all who call on Him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 8th, at 12 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet.
