Richard S. Myers

November 23, 1939 — July 13, 2022

Watervliet - Richard S. Myers, 82, passed away peacefully in his sleep the morning of Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes, NY. He was the son of the late Stanley and Harriet Myers of Ardmore, Pennsylvania. Richard was the devoted husband of Nancy B. Myers. They met in New Jersey in 1963, having both just moved to the area, and were married in 1965. They moved to Branchburg, NJ in 1966 where they raised their two children and many dogs and cats. After retirement, they moved to upstate New York.

After graduating from Haverford High School in Havertown, PA, Richard attended college at Drexel University in Philadelphia, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1963. Dedicated to a lifelong pursuit of more knowledge, he continued to take college courses at Rutgers long after his graduation. His first professional position was as an engineer with RCA in Bridgewater, NJ and then he worked at Hewlett-Packard/Agilent for many years. In his early retirement, he spent an additional year working for Phillips.

Richard enjoyed spending time with his entire family. He loved reading, attending and leading discussion groups and traveling to foreign countries with his wife. He enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren many things, including how to accomplish both simple and quite complicated repairs in and around a house. He was always looking for opportunities to learn something new, especially anything to do with engineering or math. He was a lifetime member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). A perfect Saturday night for Richard was pizza for dinner followed by ice cream.

Richard was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Campbell. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nancy, his children Elizabeth Myers and Paul (Heather) Myers; grandchildren Andrew Myers and Aria Heart; sister-in-law, Claire (Skip) Hungerford; brother-in-law, Glenn Campbell and various cousins, nieces, and nephews.
