Colonie – Richard "Dicky" Patka entered into eternal rest on Friday October 25th surrounded by his loving family and friends, after a sudden and tragic heart failure. Born in Schenectady he was the son of Sandra Patka, and the late Richard Patka Sr.
Dicky had a love for technology and was employed as a Senior Software Developer for Newkirk at the time of his passing. He was also working towards his Master's Degree at The College of St. Rose, where he earned his Bachelor's in 1999. Dicky had a true zest for life and lived every day to the fullest. At home you would find him in his garage smoking a pipe and watching Fox News. He also loved to spend time with his cherished nieces and nephew: Ashleigh, Danielle, and James Jr. who brought out the kid in him. Living with complications of Marfan Syndrome was hard on Dicky, but he never complained or felt sorry for himself, he was always more worried about everyone else. He will be remembered for his infectious smile and ability to make everyone around him feel loved.
Dicky is survived by his loving mother Sandra Patka, his sister Kelly (Jim) Stout, his grandmother Elizabeth Peplowski, his girlfriend Jeannette Bowdish, his nieces and nephew, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
