SCHENECTADY-Richard Peacock (Popeye), 87, of Lishakill Road, Schenectady passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at his home. Mr. Peacock was born in Glens Falls, NY the son of the late Russell B. and Ruanna Mowrey Peacock. He has resided in Schenectady most of his life. Mr. Peacock was a veteran of WWII having served in the US Army as a Medic. He retired from Niagara Mohawk as Superintendent of the Tri-city area. In addition, Mr. Peacock was a member of the ESAM Schenectady Airport, Albany Curling Club and the Colonie Elks Club. He enjoyed white water canoeing, deep sea fishing, gardening as well as piloting his own plane. As a WWII veteran, Mr. Peacock participated in the Honor Flight to Washington, DC to visit the WWII Memorial.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Janet (Tanis) Peacock of Schenectady; his children, Preston E. (Patricia) Peacock, of Scotia, Dawn E. (William) Moniz, of Duanesburg, Philip W. (Barbara) Peacock, of Delanson, and Amy L. (Thomas) Foster, of E. Greenbush; his grandchildren, Noelle Peacock Frederick, of Scotia, Kristen Peacock Degonzague (Ryan), of Scotia, Todd (Tara) Moniz, of RI, Jason Moniz, of RI, Daniel (Krista Provost) Peacock, of Delanson, Sarah (Dimitri Garder) Peacock, of VT, Matthew (Carrie) Sollien, of Feura Bush, Adam (Jennifer) Sollien, of Latham; great grandchildren, Joseph, Julia, Ezekiel, Brynn, and Mark; his sister, Elizabeth Austin, of Clifton Park, his brothers, George Kuebler, of VT, Earl Kuebler, of AZ and David Kuebler, of Greenfield Center and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Peacock was predeceased by his brothers, Dr. Russell Peacock, Garald Peacock, and Ronnie Kuebler.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7PM on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at the New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, July 16, 2012 at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Memory Gardens, Colonie.
