Richard R. Leto, Sr., 73, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 04, 2011 at his home, with his loving daughter and sister by his side. Dick was born in Albany to the late Joseph and Ruth Leto. Richard was a member of the Operating Engineers, local 106 in Glenmont. In his earlier years he enjoyed being the owner of several horses that participated in many harness races; he also enjoyed his brother's stockcars. In his later years, Dick enjoyed meeting his friends for coffee at the Gateway diner. Dick adored his grandchildren and loved the New York Yankees. In addition to his parents, Dick was predeceased by his loving wife of over 50 years, Arlene Leto and his brothers and sisters, Joseph Leto, Joan Hughes, Patricia Granito, Ronald Leto, Arnie Leto and Ruth Luther.
Dick is survived by his beloved children; Colleen Parker (John Little), Richard R. (Debbie) Leto, Jr., Arlene M. (Tim) Lagace and Robert J. (Kate) Leto; his grandchildren, Kelly, Kevin and Katelyn Parker, Abigail Leto, Julie and Andy Arango, Jared and Alex Paigo, and Cassidy, Mason and Genevieve Leto; his sister, Janet Boni; his sisters-in-law, Vikki Leto, Nancy Lynch; his brothers-in-law, Neil Luther and Ed Lynch and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Dicks children would like to extend a special thank you to his sister, Janet Boni for all of the love, care and compassion she gave him so that he may spend these last years at home. We could not have travelled this journey without her and are eternally grateful. We also want to thank the staff at the Community Hospice of Albany, especially Alice and Michelle.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:00 am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany NY 12205 or to St. Jude Tribute Program, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142 in memory of Dick.
