Schenectady – Richard M. Regnier, Sr., 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 surrounded by his loving children.
Born in Schenectady on December 13, 1935, Richard was a son of the late Melvin Regnier and Elsa (Weyell) Brooks.
Richard was raised and educated in Schenectady and a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. He also attended Hartwick College as a music major.
Dick enjoyed a 40 plus year career in theater business as a stage hand. He was a business agent for International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 29, and proud member of local 592,14, and 52. He worked at RPI Fieldhouse, SPAC, Proctors Theater, The Palace Theater, The Times Union Center, The Troy Music Hall, and The Egg. Dick's passion for the stage permeated much of his life and became a rich part of his family life. He married Shirley Johnson, who he went to school with. As a wardrobe mistress, Shirley stood by Dick's side during his career. Dick was proud of his family and found immense joy in watching the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.
On September 3, 2003, Dick was predeceased by his wife, Shirley Regnier.
Dick is survived by his children, Peter (Marybeth Valentine) Regnier of Chazy, NY, Renee (Marty) Minto of SC, Richard Regnier, Jr. of Schenectady and Michelle Nolan of Clifton Park; he is the brother of, Douglas (Joyce) Regnier of Pattersonville and E.Lorraine Regnier of Rotterdam; his grandchildren, Danielle DeLilly, Brianne Simpson, Leanne Anderson, Matthew Minto, Michael Minto, Mitchell Minto, Michelle Shannon, Daniel Minto, Jacob DiMirra, Abby Nolan and Jack Nolan; 25 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on Monday, September 18, 2017, from 4:00pm-7:00pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home, on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at 10:00am. Burial will be held at Park View Cemetery, Schenectady, NY.
