Richard J. Scrom

August 31, 1954 — September 19, 2018

Glenville~

It is with great sadness that we lost Richard Jon Scrom of Glenville, NY on Wednesday, September 19, 2018. He passed after an extended battle with heart failure and kidney disease.

He was born on August 31, 1954 to Franklin Scrom and June (McDonald) Scrom in Schenectady, NY. He leaves behind to mourn his loss his wife and companion, Edythe (nee: Ingalls) Scrom, of 38 years. He is also survived by sons, Franklin, Richard and Austin Scrom; daughters Kelly and Kelsey Scrom. He is also survived by beloved step-daughters, Dianna Hewitt Terry and Jessica Hewitt. Richard also leaves behind his granddaughter, Stella Scrom, and grandson, Franklin Scrom, whom he loved to spoil.

He is also survived by brother Paul Scrom and sister Linda Perrine, as well as niece Jennifer Perrine and nephew Dan Scrom. His sister, Terry Scrom, predeceased him (as did as his parents). Richard had previously worked for the City of Schenectady, the State of New York and Taft Furniture before his illnesses.

Richard had a major love for his family and spending time with them. One of the things they shared was their love of "The Walking Dead", and any time they got together, it was one of their favorite topics.
He enjoyed "Jeopardy", "Wheel of Fortune", any scientific program or true-life crime stories he could find. Richard thoroughly enjoyed daily cross-word puzzles He was also a major wrestling fan.

Richard was extremely intelligent and loved learning something new every day.

He had a "strange" sense of humor and loved kidding around with this children and grandchildren.

He will be sorely missed.

Family would like to extend its thanks to all of his doctors and nurses who provided such care and understanding. Also, we'd like to thank the Visiting Nurses and various therapy workers.

At Richard's request, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
Arrangements are being provided by New Comer Cremations & Funerals of Colonie.
