Albany, NY – Richard "Dick" Shaver, Sr., passed away Monday May 10, 2010 at St. Peter's Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Dick was born in Albany, the son of the late Alfred and Josephine Shaver and was a lifelong resident. As a young man he worked for the D & H Railroad and then went to work for H.S. Vincent & Son through the Laborers Local 190 for over 40 years retiring in 1994. He was a proud member of the Polish American Club in Albany where he was a member of the Dart League and the Twenty Five year Club. Dick enjoyed golfing with friends, was an avid NY Yankee and NY Giant fan, and liked to travel, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years Joann Shaver, loving children: Cynthia (Paul) Gentile, Richard (Tracy) Shaver, Jr. and Scott (Nucha) Shaver, grandchildren: Paul, Jr., Nicholas, Jessica, Andrea, Scott Jr., and Jaden, brother Robert (Amy) Shaver, sister-in-laws: Mary Urso, Mary Schissler and Joan Schiler and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Ronald Shaver.
Funeral services will be Friday 8:15am from New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie then to Blessed Sacrament Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00am. Calling hours will be Thursday 4:00 to 7:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
