Richard Signore

February 23, 1932 — July 13, 2021

Born in Brooklyn New York on February 23, 1932, Richard Signore has passed at 89 years of age at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany New York.

He is survived by his adoring wife of 68 years Joyce M. Signore, as well as his loving children Lynne Signore Lovrich, husband Richard Lovrich, Michael Signore and Leslie Signore. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Nicholas Signore, Hayden Yund and Glenn Lovrich as well as his great grandchild Ayana Yund. He was father and grandfather in spirit and action to niece Gina Cummings, nephews Chris Nerney and Eric Padelford and all their families.

Richard attended the Brooklyn Technical High School, class of 1949 and graduated with a degree in engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1953. In 1964 Richard received his master's in Business Degree from Northeastern University.

Among Richard's many professional accomplishments upon graduation, was as an Engineering professional at Eastman Kodak and the Dupont chemical company, where he worked in atomic energy. Thereafter he worked at Norton Company as Vice president, Facilities Planning and Divisional Vice President and General Manager of Engineering and Construction Services. While at Norton, he traveled extensively, working to establish facilities in Poland, the Soviet Union and in Central America. Appointed by Governor Dukakis, Richard took on the role of Engineering Manager for the Metropolitan District Commission of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. His projects included preliminary work on the Central Artery/Tunnel Project.

In addition to Richard's considerable professional responsibilities, he found time to act as the Director and President of the Albany County Tuberculosis and Respiratory Disease Association as well as Community Trustee to the United Way. Turning his attention to environmental issues, Richard was the Chairman of the first Town of Colonie New York Conservation Advisory Council and Member of Associate Industries of New York State Environmental Conservation Committee. He was also Director and Vice President of the Colonie and Albany Chambers of Commerce. In education, he acted as Advisory Board Member of Hudson Valley community College's Engineering and Science Curriculum and advisory board member in the of the Advanced Automation and Technologies Program at RPI as well as an advisory board member for their Center for Manufacturing Productivity and Technology Transfer.

In what others might call retirement, Richard found a career in Real Estate, both in the Capital Region of New York, developing properties such as Spring Meadows in Watervliet as well as projects in Florida and Massachusetts.

How this husband, father, engineer, environmentalist, healthcare advocate, builder, volunteer and entrepreneurial visionary found time to a be a fun loving person who never said no to friend, neighbor or family member in-need, is a mystery that will pass on with his loving memory. They do not make very many like him and it gives his family great comfort to acknowledge that this all around great guy is finally at well deserved rest.
