Richard A. Turcotte

Cohoes- Richard A. Turcotte, 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 7, 2023 with his loving family by his side. He was the son of the late Alfred and Josephine Turcotte. Richard was the devoted husband to Janice Turcotte. They were married 53 years.

After graduating from High School, Richard enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served proudly until his honorable discharge.

Richard spent his free time volunteering with the Boght Fire Department as a Fire Policeman.

Richard enjoyed spending time with his entire family who affectionately referred to him as "Papa". He enjoyed tending to friends and family at Papa's Bar and cooking amazing meals. Richard was an avid wood worker throughout his life, creating many beautiful pieces. Most of all, Richard enjoyed the time he spent with his loving wife Janice, traveling and making new memories.

In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his sons, Paul (Becky) Turcotte and Chris (Jennifer) Turcotte; his grandchildren, Anthony and Alyssa Turcotte; his brother, Ronald (Patricia) Turcotte and Robert (the late Helen) Turcotte; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Richard is predeceased by his brothers, Alfred (Josephine) Turcotte, Daniel Turcotte, and John Turcotte.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, New York 12189 on Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 3pm to 6pm with a Celebration of Life to follow at 6pm.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, December 17, 2023 from 12 pm to 4 pm at the Boght Fire Hall, Preston Drive, Cohoes, NY 12047.

Burial will be held privately for family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Richard's name to Veteran's Miracle Center at The Albany VA, 10 Interstate Ave, Albany, New York 12205.
