Rita Annunziata

COLONIE – Rita Annunziata, 72, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2013 under the care of hospice at Albany Memorial Hospital. She was born in Watervliet and lived in Colonie for most of her life. Rita worked for Albany County Social Services for thirty-five years, retiring as Chief Welfare Inspector. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her loving family.


Rita is the beloved mother of Tracy (Marky) Ahtila of Colonie and the devoted grandmother of Daniel Ahtila. Also surviving are close family friends, Kathy and Rik Weismaier as well as several cousins, and Rita's faithful feline companions, Bella and Cali. Rita's family would like to thank the hospice staff at Albany Memorial Hospital for the kindness and care they gave to Rita during her stay.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will precede the service from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mohawk & Hudson River Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204 in memory of Rita Annunziata.
