COLONIE, NY – Rita Dobiel, 86, passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2010, at the Albany County Nursing Home. Born in Adams, MA, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Minnie (Gorch) DuCharme. Rita grew up in Troy, NY at St. Vincent's Home. She was a 1942 graduate of Catholic Central High School. Rita lived most of her adult life in Albany. She enjoyed listening to classical music, opera and attending the ballet. She is the beloved wife of the late Casimir P. Dobiel. Rita is survived by her children, Michael L. (Lynn) Dobiel of Knoxville, TN, Maryrita (Joseph Quinlan) Dobiel of Loudonville and Katherine M. (Joseph) Mikrut. She is the grandmother of Phanessa, Nicole, Daniella and Rachel. In addition to her parents and husband, Rita was predeceased by her sister, Marion Prudhomme and her brother, John Q. Button. Rita's family thanks the staff from the Ann Lee Home (2 West) and the Albany County Nursing Home (2HR) for all of the care given to her during her stay.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, March 26th at 9:30 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church (formerly St. Margaret Mary Church) in Albany. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sister's of St. Joseph of Carondolet, 385 Watervliet Shaker Rd., Latham, NY 12110, attention: Development or the Academy of the Holy Names, 1073 New Scotland Ave., Albany, NY 12208 in memory of Rita Dobiel.
