Rita Franconere

September 13, 1919 — July 27, 2016

Rita Franconere, 96, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the Lodge at the Avila.

Rita was the daughter of the late Rocco Franconere and Julie Franconere.

Rita graduated from Mildred Elley Business School and worked for New York State for over 33 years.

She then proudly served with the United States Marine Corp. during WWII, along with her sister Mary who were among the first to join the Woman Marines.

Rita was a communicant of Christ the King Church for many years and active in many ministries.

She enjoyed volunteering with the Red Cross and the AARP and traveling with her sister and her friends.

In addition to her parents, Rita was predeceased by her sister Mary Franconere.

Rita is survived by her godchild, Teresa Picarazzi, and Teresa's sisters Janet Burg and Elaine (Vincent) Ernst. Also important in her life were her good friends, Richard (Terry) Murray and Ann Cioppa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday August 1, 2016 at 11:00 am at Christ the King, 20 Sumter Avenue, Guilderland, NY. Calling hours will precede the Mass from 9 to 11 at the church. Interment will follow the Mass at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Church of Christ the King Building Fund, 20 Sumter Ave., Guilderland, NY 12203 in Rita's memory.
