Rita H. Bogdan

SCHENECTADY- Rita H. Bogdan, 90, of Schenectady, passed away on Wednesday October 15, 2008 at Ellis Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Rensselaer and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Gertrude Reilly Haynes.
Rita was a 1940 graduate of the College of St. Rose. A lifelong educator, she had taught at Albany Business College, St. Luke's Elementary School and again at Albany Business College for many years, retiring in 1985. Rita had a strong appreciation for proper English and was an avid reader and golfer. She was a member of the CSR Alumni and the Altar Rosary Society at St. Luke's Church.
She is the beloved wife of sixty years to Richard J. Bogdan. Rita is the devoted mother of William K. Bogdan (Carl Ward) of Cincinnati, OH., Daniel J. Bogdan (Candie) of Orlando, FL. and the late Richard J. Bogdan Jr. She is the cherished grandmother of Chris (Laura), Courtney, Brittaney and Chelsea Bogdan.
Funeral services will be Friday morning at 8:15 at Newcomer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave) then to St. Luke's Church, Schenectady at 9:00 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
