Rita Kane

COLONIE – Rita A. Kane, 78, of Colonie, died Sunday, December 26, 2004 at Albany Medical Center Hospital, surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Rensselaer, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen Kane. She worked at various companies throughout the years, retiring from Albany Medical Center Hospital in 1988. Rita is survived by her children, Pat (Bud) Van Slyck, Tom (Donna) Bolani, Mike Baldwin (Lynne Lansley), Tracey (Jimmy) Vermette and Mary Walters. She is the sister of Helen Gentner, Charles (Pat) Kane and the late Jack Kane, Marie Hiller, Edith (Bill) Ackerman and Daniel (Agnes) Kane. She is the grandmother of Jon (Jen), Scott (Bernadette), Karin (Dan), Tina (Tom), Nikki, Michael, Tiffany, Jimmy and Shannon; great-grandmother of Jonathan, Jordan, Michaela, Ashley and Scotty; sister-in-law of Jack Hiller and the late Robert Gentner; aunt of the late James Wessels. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rensselaer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 950 Old Loudon Rd., Suite 280, Latham, NY 12110 in memory of Rita A. Kane.
