COLONIE - Rita M. (Dillon) Lashway, 80, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2014 at Ellis Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Rita was born on July 19, 1933 in Troy and was the daughter of the late Edward and Anita (Martin) Dillon. She worked as a waitress for Howard Johnson's, first in Glenmont and then in Latham where she retired from. She enjoyed going to casino's and writing poems but most especially spending time with her children.
Rita is survived by her loving daughters, Diana L. (Peter) Forni of Colonie and Mary L. (Kirk Schofield of Cohoes) Heppelle of Ravena; her cherished grandchildren, Gary and Jason Zirpoli and Shaun, Michelle and Michael Heppelle; her sister, Dorothy Mitchell; her brother, Edward Dillon and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard F. Lashway; her daughter, Donna Speciale; her son, Leonard F. Lashway Jr., and her sisters, Anita O'Connell and Marilyn Arroyo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Clare's Church in Colonie. Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Interment will be held at Memory Gardens in Colonie.
