COLONIE- Rita Perrotta, 83, of Colonie, formerly of Watervliet, passed away on Saturday in her husbands' arms at their residence. She was born in Senigallia, Italy and was the daughter of the late Luigi and Pasqualena Patrignani.
Rita came to America with the assistance of US Ambassador Claira Booth Luce. She was a long time communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Watervliet. Rita was active in the Church Women's Guild, annual bazaars and bocci league. She was employed with the Cohoes District Shirt Factory and more recently at the former Bania's Bakery in Watervliet for several years.
Rita was married to her beloved husband, Antonio Orazio Perrotta in Cervinara, Italy on October 14, 1956.
In addition to her husband, she is also survived by her devoted son Nicholas Perrotta and his wife Jan Flood Perrotta; her cherished granddaughter Samantha Nicole Perrotta. Several cousins and dear friends also survive.
Funeral services will be Tuesday morning at 9:00 at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Monday from 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Memorys Garden. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd.
