Rita Sickles

SCOTIA-Rita Hannelore Sickles, 56, of Scotia left this world suddenly and too soon on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Albany Memorial Hospital. Rita was born in Heidelberg, Germany, the daughter of Ottilie Quidgeon. She was the beloved wife of Paul J. Sickles, Jr. Proud mother of Heidi (Jason) Parker of Freehold and Megan Sickles of Schenectady; sister of Odette (Tom) Westcott, Marianne St. Clair, and Arthur (Jennifer) Welch. She was a graduate of Stillwater High School, Class of 1974, and went on to attend Hudson Valley Community College where she earned certification in Accounting and Computer Programming. Rita devoted her life to family and friends where she participated in several school and community organizations. She was a selfless woman and when she was not hard at work, she enjoyed helping others in any way she could. She also loved traveling and playing board games with her family. Rita brought with her everywhere a passion for life and a soul warming smile.
Family and friends are welcome to attend calling hours from 3 to 5pm on Sunday December 30, 2012 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie with a funeral service to immediately follow at 5pm at the funeral home.
