TREADWAY, Rita Wright, age 85 ,On June 10, 2022 our beloved mother, peacefully passed away at home in Colonie. She was born in Ticonderoga, NY on April 11, 1937 and grew up in Crown Point, NY with her parents Willard and Elsie Wright and her five siblings. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Labor Relations from SUNY Empire State College in 1980. She worked for New York State for over 30 years where she retired from the Labor Department's Personnel Division. She enjoyed helping NYS retirees navigate their health care options.
Rita was very proud of her family and is lovingly survived by her children DeVere (Stephen)
Pyatt, Michael (Rita) Treadway, Peter (Cheryl) Treadway, Terri (Mark) Dentinger, Maria (Greg) Gallacchi, her daughter-in-law Chris Treadway, nine grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. Her son, Andrew Treadway, predeceased her in 1998.
Rita lived for decades in Colonie and Schenectady, NY. She was an active member of Schenectady Parents Without Partners for many years and was elected President of the chapter. Rita had a beautiful soprano voice, read music and enjoyed playing the piano. While in high school, she was selected to the NYS All-State Choir. She was an avid gardener. Her yards were full of beautiful ever-blooming annuals and perennials. Rita enjoyed crocheting and made each family colorful afghans. She was a lover of card games and TV sports, especially the Yankees, all basketball games, the Olympic Games and Sunday golf. She was a voracious reader and never went anywhere without a book.
Her joy was her grandchildren. She loved spending time with them and attending their many after school events including choir, ball games, theater, track meets and concerts.
Our mother had a beautiful smile, was quick-witted, deeply loved and will be forever missed.
DeVere would like to thank her neighbors, Mom's healthcare providers, including their receptionists, and the Albany Alzheimer's Association for helping Mom and for the kindness they gave her.
Rita will be buried in the Fairview Cemetery in Crown Point, New York, 12928
