SCHENECTADY – Robert A. Barringer, Sr., 83, passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday February 7, 2006 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Robert was born on August 13, 1922 in Schenectady and was the son of the late Alfred P. and Margaret T. (Mueller) Barringer. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, attaining the rank of Private First Class. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart.
Robert was predeceased by his loving wife of 44 years, Joan T. (Casey) Barringer.
Robert was a sales consultant at DeNooyer Chevrolet. He was a member of the Schenectady VFW Post 357 and enjoyed playing golf.
Robert is survived by his children, Robert A. Barringer, Jr. (Donna), Patricia Barringer-Cline, Jeffrey Barringer (Shelly) and Janet Barringer all of Schenectady; his sister, Ruth Richards of Rotterdam; 7 grandchildren, David, Scott, Robin, Nicole, Justin, Danielle and Corey, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Entombment will follow at Memory's Garden, Colonie. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
