Robert A. Newberry

GLENMONT, NY – Robert A. Newberry, 61, passed away suddenly with his beloved wife of 20 years, Susan M. Newberry, on Friday, February 22, 2008. Bob was born in Albany and was the son of the late Victor Newberry and Jane (Newberry) Heaphy. Mr. Newberry lived in the Albany area for all of his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country during the Vietnam War. Bob came from a family who was politically active in local politics. After returning from Vietnam, he was a committeeman and ran for county legislator. Bob was also interested in computers and technology. He is the beloved father of Robert Newberry of Waterford, Michael Newberry of Schodack and Kimberly Spath of Brunswick. He is the step-father of Grace M. Alexander. He is the cherished grandfather of Taylor, Cameron, Alexandra, Andrew, Kyle, Jaime and Aaron. He is the brother of Keith, Kenny, Penny, Tim and the late Victor and David. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Services will be Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Bethlehem Volunteer Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 246, Selkirk, NY 12158 in memory of Robert A. Newberry.
