VOORHEESVILLE, Robert L. Ambuhl III, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2023, from multiple illnesses. Bob managed his illness with strength and grace, like how he lived his life. On his final day, he was surrounded by the love of his daughters. He was born on December 17, 1941, in Troy, NY, the son of Robert L. Ambuhl II and Annamae (Lebentritt) Ballard. He was an incredible person, with a witty sense of humor, who will be missed dearly.
Bob graduated from Shaker High School. Following graduation, he served his country as a U.S. Marine – 'once a Marine, always a Marine'. He was a skillful rifleman and received multiple medals for Sharpshooter and USMC Expert Rifle, which came in handy with three daughters. He proudly served as an U.S. Presidential guard and had many interesting stories. After the military, he married his soulmate, Lois (Spring) Ambuhl, who passed away December 2, 2019. They celebrated 51 years of marriage. His professional career journey was with Tougher Industries for 37 years. In his spare time, he received his aviation license, loved spending time at Brant Lake with friends and family, enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling, model trains, pinball and much more. He was one to have a lot of "toys".
He is survived by his daughters, Pamela (Ambuhl) Thornton and her husband Harry of Voorheesville; Stephanie (Ambuhl) Stanton and her husband Jim of Greenville, SC; Rachel (Ambuhl) Young of Ballston Lake and her husband Randy; five grandchildren, Anna Stanton, Zachary Thornton, Emily Thornton, Samuel Stanton, and Jackson Young; stepmother, Mildred Ambuhl, brothers & sisters, Barbara (Ambuhl) Andre, Deborah (Ambuhl) Lebarron, Carol (Ambuhl) Chonka, Cindy (Ambuhl) Henzel, David Ambuhl and his wife Linda, Andy Ambuhl, Michael Ambuhl and his wife Sally, Mark Ambuhl and his wife Pam, Tony Ambuhl and his wife Denise, Joe Ambuhl, John Ambuhl, Joe Ballard and his wife Mary, Mary Ellen (Ballard) with her husband Pete, June and Jim Smoak (in-laws), Laurie (Ballard) DiCarlo, Douglas and Barbara Spring (in-laws) and many, nieces, nephews, cousins & family members.
