GUILDERLAND- Robert "Bob" H. Balander, age 92, died peacefully in his sleep on March 19, 2021.
He was born in Spencer, NY, the son of the late John and Lempi Balander. He was predeceased by his wife Rose in 2014 and siblings: John and Leo Balander.
Bob served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
He retired from the NYS Department of Transportation as a Civil Engineer.
Bob will be remembered by his children: Therese (Randy) Munroe and Robert (Jane) Balander; his grandchildren: Patrick (Jacquelyn) Munroe and Nichole (Joshua) Snipes; his great grandchildren: Wesley and Jameson Munroe, Sadie and Leighton Snipes.
All services will be held privately at the family's request.
Entombment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
A special thanks to the staff and residents at the Avila Retirement Community, who watched over him after Rose passed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bob's memory may be made to St. Madeleine Sophie Church, 3500 Carman Road, Schenectady, NY 12303.
