Robert Bates

COLONIE- Robert A. Bates, 57, of Colonie, passed way on Tuesday January 9, 2007 at his residence after a brief illness. He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Morgan and Caroline Gratton Bates.
Bob was employed for twenty five years as litigation manager with New York State Higher Education Services Corp., retiring in August of 2006. He enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, horse racing and poker. Bob is survived by his wife Eileen Bologna; his sons, Michael J. Bates (Nicole) and Robert A. Bates Jr.; his grandson Ryan Bates; his siblings, Morgan Bates, Debra Borrero and Jennifer Burgos. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday morning at 8:00 at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave) then to St. Francis de Sales Church at 9:00 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. Expressions of sympathy may be made to newcomerfamily.com.
