LOUDONVILLE | Robert J. Benack (Bob), 66, was called home to God on September 26th, 2018, while at home with his family by his side.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Cindy Benack; his sons, Sean (Josephine) Benack, Daniel Benack, and Brendon Benack; granddaughter, Everly Benack; nephew, John (Shelly) Parker; mother and father-in-law, Leonard and Lorraine Pitcher; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leonard Pitcher Jr., William Pitcher, Lisa Pitcher (Jim Calvagno) and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his mother Marion Benack, and sister, Joan Davis.
Bob was a wonderful husband, father, and grandpa. He was employed for twenty years as a commercial parts expert at Tracey Road Equipment with colleagues he truly had pleasure in working with. His passion for mechanics was obvious, as he spent much of his free time repairing and maintaining small engines. He was an avid bowler, scoring a perfect game of 300 on three occasions. As a lifelong New York Yankees fan, he would often relax by kicking back to current and classic games. He spent many evenings playing guitar and jamming to the tunes of Jimi Hendrix in his music den. He greatly enjoyed his time outdoors fishing and kayaking with his wife, but he especially loved the frequent trips to the family camp to tear it up on the snowmobiles. His goofy dad jokes and snippy one-liners will be fondly remembered and no doubt be carried on by his friends and loved ones. Bob was immensely proud of his three boys and over-the-moon to spend precious moments running around with his granddaughter. He will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 28th, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals | 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 29th, at 10:30 a.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Church, 607 Central Avenue, Albany.
