Robert W. Blatney

October 17, 1945 — April 12, 2022

Ancram~ Robert W. Blatney, 76, died suddenly on Tuesday April 12, 2022. He was born October 17, 1945 in Yonkers, New York and was the son of the late Florence (Sarsen) Blatney and Edward Blatney. He married the love of his life Linda (Collins) Blatney on April 29, 1972 at St. Denis Church.

He worked for the Journeymen Westchester Gannett Newspapers in both Yonkers and Harrison New York from 1969-1977. He retired early due to a near fatal car accident in May of 1977. While home recovering he took care of and helped raise his greatest accomplishments his two children. He taught them both how to hunt, fish, shoot as well as garden and play sports. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener and die hard San Francisco Giants fan. His other hobbies included reading (as long as the chapters were short and print large), crossword and jigsaw puzzles, watching old television shows (as much as it drove us all nuts) as he said things were much simpler back then. He also liked to travel with his wife to the casino and watch her play and win when he walked away. He was affectionately called her "black cloud". Once he walked away she'd win every time. He may not have said it enough but he was so very proud of his children and was happy his daughter had found someone to make her happy again. He enjoyed his visits with his 90 year old neighbor Sonny Kells and his visits to the Catskills to see his best friend from childhood Bob Sanks.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years Linda Blatney of Ancram New York, his son Brian Blatney (Brooke) of Melbourne Florida and his daughter Tracy Blatney of Kinderhook New York, his sister in laws, Charlotte Blatney, Patricia, Debbie and Mary Collins, brother in law Robert Collins, nephew Shawn Sarles (Brenda, Jake), cousins Myrt Kocian, John Urban, Linda Kardos and Judy Doubleday as well as his furry grandchildren Smokey, Bandit and Stella.

In addition to his parents Robert is predeceased by his brother Donald Blatney, nephew Donnie Blatney, grandmother, aunts, and uncles, and mother in law Helen Collins.
