Guilderland- Robert C. Cox, 89, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 with his loving family by his side. Bob was the son of the late George and Rose Cox and was the devoted husband to the late Rita Cox.
Bob was a WWII Veteran and proudly served in the Navy. He was a lifelong member of American Legion Post #1493 in Voorheesville. He worked at Guilderland Radio and TV and later retired from the Guilderland Post Office. He was an avid golfer, Yankees and Giants fan. He was proud of his double eagle at Western Turnpike Golf Course.
He is survived by his son: Bob (Jeanne) Cox of Schenectady; his daughters: Judy (Dave) Natoli and Jean Cox (Steve Allen) of Guilderland; his grandchildren: Brian (Michele), Mary Katherine (Ryan Marx), Kellyann, Tim, Matthew and Sara; his great grandchild Naevia; his sisters-in-law: Fran Cox, Anna Young, and Pat Modleski, along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Bob is predeceased by his siblings: Margaret, Dick, Alice, Ralph and Ray; his great granddaughter Lilyana; and his nephews: Andy, Eddie, Ken, and John.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at St. Peter's Hospice Inn, along with Sharon Habiniak and her staff at Albany Medical Center for the excellent care given to our Dad.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, on Thursday May 19, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday May 20, 2016 at 10:00 am, at New Comer Funeral Home. Following the funeral service, Bob will join Rita in eternal rest at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie.
