DANDRIDGE, TN – Robert O. Clark, 62, of Dandridge, TN, passed away on Friday, February 3, 2006. Born on September 19, 1943 in Buffalo, NY, Bob was raised in the Albany area and was a 1961 graduate of Guilderland High School. He obtained his civil engineering degree from Rutgers College of Engineering and worked for the NYS Dept. of Transportation later transferring to the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation while also obtaining his Masters in Business Administration from Embry Riddle University. He moved to Florida in 1988 where he served as Director of the Streets and Highways Division, Dept. of Public Works, Broward County. He was retired from military service, having completed pilot training with the U.S. Air Force and serving three tours in Viet Nam flying the KC-135A Aerial Refueling tanker aircraft in 156 combat missions totaling over 573 hours of combat time. Bob received the New York State Medal for Conspicuous Service for those efforts which is an honor accorded only to those residents of New York State who have been decorated for valor in combat and is one of the highest honors that the state can convey upon a resident. Following his service with the Air Force, he joined the New York Army National Guard where he performed duty as pilot of the AH-1/S "Cobra" helicopter gunship. Bob was also qualified in seven other helicopter types including AH-1/S (MC) "Modernized Cobra", a state of the art computerized helicopter gunship. He also held twelve type ratings in fixed wing aircraft (4 Military). Bob was also a sports car enthusiast and is past Webmaster of the Broward County Chapter of the Porsche Club of America. Bob is the husband of Regina Klein Clark. He is the father of Christine Ann Clark Trotter and grandfather of Katy and Madison. He is the brother of John W. (Jack) Clark, and his wife, Patricia of Clifton Park, NY. He is the uncle of Paul Clark of Dallas, TX, Sara Clark of Clifton Park and Ian and Casey Klein of Glens Falls. He is the son-in-law of Wilfried H.J. and Gisela Klein of Cape Coral, FL, and brother-in-law of Wilfried P. (Butch) and Davida Klein of Glens Falls. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Robert O. Clark, Sr. and Phyllis B. Clark, and his sister, Judith E. Clark.
Funeral services will be Monday morning at 11:00 at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will precede the service from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment with full military honors will follow in Memory's Garden, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Jefferson County (TN), P.O. Box 653, Jefferson City, TN 37760 or The Animal Protective Foundation of Schenectady, 53 Maple Ave., Scotia, NY 12302 in memory of Robert O. Clark.
