Robert Leonard Coleman, 72, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Laurel Lake Nursing Home.
Born on July 9, 1945, in Hudson, NY and raised in Albany, NY, he was the son of the late Charles and Martha Coleman.
Robert was one of seven children. Robert was educated in the Albany School system. He worked for New York State Office of General Services as a courier mail-truck driver. He would travel every night from Albany NY to Rochester NY and Buffalo NY. He also worked for Albany County Nursing Home as an environmental service worker until he retired in 2004.
Some of his favorite things to do were riding his horses, and he loved dogs. Robert also enjoyed celebrating all of his childrens' birthdays by buying them a birthday cake, ice cream, pizza, wings, balloons and cards. He would make his own special birthday party for each of them even if they didn't want one.
Robert is predeceased by his parents Charles and Martha Coleman and siblings Dorothy Johnson, Joan Bickley, Joseph and Mathew Coleman. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Sandra Coleman; children Sheila, Lisa and Yolanda Coleman; Granddaughter Arianah Braxton; Mother-in-law Daisy Tucker; siblings Edith Dixon, Charles (Brenda) Coleman; Sisters-in-law June Coleman and Judy Coleman; Brother-in-law John Johnson and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service for Robert will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 12noon at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, calling hours will be held prior to the service starting at 10:30am. Burial will be held at Memory Gardens.
