Robert G. Davey

Robert George Davey, "Bob", as he was known by all that knew and loved him, passed away on February 27, 2023 at the age of 83, surrounded by his loved ones.

Robert was born and raised in Albany and was educated in the Albany Public Schools. Being raised in a strict household early in life helped aid him in making the decision to enter the military. He served in the Army before marrying the love of his life, the late Nancy A. Davey. They were married for 58 years.

He retired after working many years as a Bread Delivery Route Salesman. He was an amazing father and there wasn't anything he wouldn't do for his children and grandchildren. He loved socializing with friends and family; many loved him for his kind and caring heart.

Bob loved life. He enjoyed working with his hands and was always ready to help you with any project. He loved being outside and working in his garden. At the age of 81, he fulfilled his lifelong dream by painting his first landscape, followed by five more paintings; he was able to relax and express himself in his pictures. Bob was also an avid NY Yankees and NY Giants fan.

Robert is predeceased by his parents George W. and Alice (Boomhower) Davey.

He is survived by his daughter Monica (Mike) Smialek, son Robert (Anita) Davey Jr., grandchildren Michael (April) Smialek, Corey Smialek, Megan (Christian) Smialek, Dawn (Sean) Layman; great-grandchildren Mckenzie, Brooklynn, Peyton. Bob will be especially missed by his beloved Bailey.

Friends and family are invited to attend visitation on Monday, March 6, 2023 from 10:00 am – 12:00pm at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie NY 12205. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 12:00pm, with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery 983 Watervliet Shaker Rd, Albany, NY 12205
