Robert E. Durand

SCHENECTADY, NY – Robert Edward Durand, 51, passed away peacefully at home, with his wife and son by his side, on Sunday, July 31, 2011, after a brave battle with ALS. Bob worked for many years at Wickes Lumber in Menands and more recently for Saginaw/Cleary Millwork. He is the beloved son of Beatrice Durand and the late William Durand. Bob is the devoted husband of Tracy Durand and the cherished father of their son, Eric Durand. Bob is the loving brother of William Durand and Barbara (Joe) Steinbach. He is the son-in-law of Edwin and Susan Rosa and brother-in-law of Suzanne (David) Spiak and Todd (Noelle) Rosa. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews; Cristen (Josh) Lare, David and Stephanie Spiak, Jessica Steinbach and Jason Durand. Tracy and Eric would like to thank all of Bob's friends and family for all of their support. They would also like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Roberta Miller, Karen Spinelli and his nurse Kim from the ALS Center and the wonderful and caring nurses from Schenectady Community Hospice who all helped Bob with his journey.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). A celebration of Bob's life will follow at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to St. Peter's Regional ALS Center, 19 Warehouse Row, Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Robert E. Durand.
