COLONIE – Robert E. James, 80, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital.
Robert was born on January 30, 1926 in Albany and was the son of the late William and Leona (Van Dyck) James. Robert was a proud Naval veteran of both WWII and Korea. He was employed by United Airlines, New York Central Railroad, Jersey Testing Laboratory and NYS OGS as an inspector for ten years. Though most of his time was spent self employed – the proprietor of James Auto Service. He volunteered with the American Welding Society and was a Boy Scout Leader for more than 10 years. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 1610.
Robert is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marie Theresa (Cote) James; sisters, Leona Teras and Carol Rowhel; his children, Edward (Barbara Young) James, Therese (Thomas) Doherty, Norman (Kathleen Caouette) James and Janet Stark. Also survived by 18 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Timothy James, an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
A memorial service with military honors will take place at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Gerald B.H. Solomon - Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Robert E. James.
