Robert E. Schmit, Jr.

Robert E. Schmit Jr., 60, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at his home with his loving family by his side.

Bob was the son of Robert E. Schmit Sr. and the late Selma "Sally" (Baird) Schmit.

He worked for Key Bank in Albany for over 31 years and most recently employed by The United States Department of HUD for the past 9 years.

Bob was a member of the American Institute of Banking and a dedicated member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church for his entire life. His faith was his strength and foundation, and as a faithful servant he was a member of the choir and taught Sunday school for many years.

Bob loved spending time outside working in his yard. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends; enjoyed striking up a conversation with everyone. His kind spirit always brought joy to others with his smile, nicknames and his jokes.

Bob was predeceased by his brother Timothy A. Schmit.

In addition to his father, Bob is survived by his loving wife of over 33 years, Linda (Horton) Schmit; he is the cherished father of; Robert "Bob" E. Schmit III, Daniel R. Schmit; he is the brother of John "Jack" (Christina) Schmit and Cynthia (Paul) Stambach. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, in-laws and close family members.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Our Saviors Lutheran Church and School 63 Mountainview Ave. Albany, NY 12205 in Bob's memory.

Calling hours will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 63 Mountainview Avenue, Albany, New York on Sunday November 8, 2015 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held Monday November 9, 2015 at 10:30 am at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Interment will follow the service at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Colonie.
