LOUDONVILLE – Robert F. Matusiak, 70, of Loudonville, passed away peacefully on Saturday January 11, 2014 at Albany Memorial Hospital. He was born in Staten Island and was the son of the late Chester and Julia Matusiak.
Bob was a graduate of CBA and Siena College. He was the Finance Officer for the New York State Senate for many years. He was appointed Director of Legislative Affairs in 1995. Bob was the coordinator of the State Employees Federal Appeal and the US Savings Bonds Campaign for the New York State Senate. He later worked part time as a starter/ranger at the Town of Colonie Golf Course. Bob was a member of the Colonie Senior Men's Golf League and was an avid fan of all New York sports teams. He enjoyed spending winters in Florida where he enjoyed his passion for golf.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Joan Gartner Matusiak; his cherished daughters, Laurie (Aaron) McDermott, Gail (John) Rawson and Nancy Matusiak. He is the brother of Donald (Elizabeth) Matusik and brother in law of Shirley (John) Darbyshire. Bob adored his grandchildren, Jillian and John Rawson. He is the nephew of Joseph (Betty Jane) Small. He is also survived by a nephew and several nieces and cousins.
Funeral services will be Friday morning at 10:15 AM at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie then to St. Pius X Church, Loudonville at 11:00 AM where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Rd. Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Robert F. Matusiak.
