Robert G. Samsel

Robert G. Samsel, entered into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, Sep 19, 2012 at Good Samaritan Lutheran Nursing Home with his family by his side. Robert walked on this earth for 89 years and provided for his family with a solid view of a hardworking man. His 48 years of various railroad engineering started in the Bronx, NY and later moved his family to Selkirk, NY. Robert will most be remembered for his love of nature and thirst for knowledge.

Robert is survived by his loving wife Alice (Smith) Samsel, his daughters Carol Williams, Kathleen (Louis) Rivituso, Barbara (Donald) Smallwood, Patricia (Rusty) Fox, Alice (Joseph) DiStefano, his son Robert Samsel, his brother August Samsel, his sister Anne Oppenshaw, twelve grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army 452 Clinton Avenue Albany, NY 12206 or to the Audubon Society 46 Rarick Rd. Selkirk, NY 12158 in Robert's memory.

Funeral service will be Monday, Sep 24, 2012 at 8:15 am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie then to St. Thomas the Apostle Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am. Interment will follow the Mass at Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery. The family will receive friends for calling hours on Sunday, Sep 23, 2012 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Funeral Home.
