LOUDONVILLE---- Robert John Grice, age 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Van Rensselaer Manor on August 10, 2022.
Bob was born in Albany and was the son of the late Harold and Hazel Grice. He was also predeceased by his brothers: Richard and Roger Grice.
Bob graduated from Bucknell University, served in the US Navy for nearly two years and then graduated from Albany Law School. As a self-employed attorney, one of his proudest accomplishments was being involved in the incorporation of the Empire State Youth Orchestra.
Listening to classical music, playing his violin and performing with the Schenectady Light Opera's orchestra were some of Bob's favorite pastimes. He was also an avid flower gardener, and enjoyed boating and camping at Lake George.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Joan Grice-D'Avignon; children: William Grice of Los Angeles, CA, Betsy (Sam) Wagar of Ballston Lake, Doug (Mary Anne) Grice of Niskayuna, and Susan Tuttle of Colonie; grandchildren: Samantha Azaria, Nathaniel Wagar, Dale Tuttle, Erin Grice and Luke Grice, several great grandchildren and nephew David Grice. In addition, he is survived by his step-children: David Oppe of Niskayuna and Patty Tollerton of Colonie.
The family would like to thank the devoted staff at Van Rensselaer Manor for their attentive and tender care of Bob during his nearly five years there.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hour on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. All are invited to attend his funeral service starting at 1 p.m. Interment with military honors will follow and be in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
