Robert H. Ashline Sr.

WATERVLIET- Robert H. "Dutchie" Ashline Sr., of Watervliet, passed away suddenly on Sunday March 9, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Watervliet and was the son of the late Alfred and Margaret Murphy Ashline. Dutchie graduated from St. Brigid's School and Christian Brothers Academy. He was the Vice President and Owner of Ashline's Express and Ice Company, a pioneer in the local transportation industry. Dutchie was a founding member of the Watervliet Kiwanis. He was a lifetime member of the Watervliet Elks #1500 and the Knights of Columbus. He sponsored many little league and softball teams throughout the community.
Dutchie adored his wife of 55 years, Carol Mullaney Ashline and his children; Robert (Theresa) Ashline Jr., Teresa Jean (Russell) and Alfred (Margaret). He is the cherished grandfather of Maggie (Joe) Saccucci, Kevin and Terence Ashline. He is the great grandfather of Gianna and Vivienne Saccucci. He will be missed by his canine companions, Nicky, Smokey and Oscar.
Dutchie gave his family the greatest gift of laughter. He was our joy and love.
In keeping with Dutchie's wishes, services will be private with his family. There will be a public Memorial Mass and celebration of Dutchie's life, following the Easter season. Dutchie had adopted many rescue dogs and took in strays for many years. He would want us to continue to support his love for animals through memorial contributions to the Mohawk & Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204.
