SCHENECTADY – Robert H. Boettner, 83, passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Ellis Hospital after a long illness. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Paul and Josephine Boettner. Robert was a resident of Schenectady for the past 50 years.
Robert was a WWII Army Veteran. He served in Italy, Germany and Austria. He worked for GE for 35 years and retired as a test man in the Gas Turbine Department. Following retirement, Robert became a school bus driver for Northland Transportation for 10 years. Over the past 30 years, he also sold wedding invitations on the side.
Robert was married to Marjorie Mary (Bellamy) Boettner for 50 years. He was the father of Lucy L. Rawson, Robert E. Boettner, Wendy L. Bell, Clark H. Boettner and Kent P. Boettner. Robert was the grandfather of nine children, and great-grandfather of four children.
A memorial service will be held at Rotterdam United Methodist Church, 1915 Helderburg Avenue, Schenectady by Rev. Alan R. Boumbeck on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 11:00 am. In place of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205 in Robert's name.
