ALBANY- Robert L. Howe, age 76, passed away on March 25, 2023 at Kingsway Arms.
He was born in Albany, the son of the late Raymond and Mary Howe. He was also predeceased by his wife Linda, his son Larry, and his brother Raymond.
After graduating Albany High, he served two years in the U.S. Army, spending an 11 month tour in Vietnam.
After his discharge, he graduated from JCA and attended both St. Rose and University at Albany.
In 1971, he married Linda and went to work for General Electric Plastics in Selkirk for over 35 years, retiring in 2010. A pioneer in the PPO and Noryl businesses, Robert made many important technical contributions that resulted in growth of the Plastics business and was awarded several patents during his career. His scientific contributions led to the commercialization of plastic automotive fenders, improvements in consumer electronic devices, and enabled high-speed digital communications.
Robert is survived by his children: Cynthia Howe of Schenectady, Christine (Howe) (Thomas) Barrett of Cobleskill, and David (Rachel) Howe of Keller, TX; and sister, Carol (Howe) Bremigen of Schenectady.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Friday March 31, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. All are invited to attend his funeral services at the funeral home on Saturday April 1, 2023 at 9 a.m. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery with full military honors.
