GUILDERLAND - Robert J. Baptiste, 88, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2014 at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany.
Bob was born on October 25, 1925 in Rome, NY and was the son of the late Jean LaMonte and Beatrice B. (Barnard) Baptiste. He served his country proudly in the US Navy during WWII, attaining the rank of Seaman First Class. He was a manager for the Amerada Hess Oil Corp in Delmar for many years before retiring.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Marjorie Anne (Wood) Baptiste and many dear friends - a few whom he lovingly considered his adopted family and guardian angels. He was predeceased by his brother, Jean Barnard Baptiste; his sister, Kathleen Barnard Baptiste and his feline companion, Spooky.
Bob enjoyed having lunch with his wife, feeding the birds, dancing, shopping, and dining out. And, he loved an adventure! He was a kind and gentle soul who had great faith in God. He had a wonderful outlook on life and was loved by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. In Bob's famous departing words, "Bye bye for now".
A graveside committal service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, August, 15, 2014 at Memory Gardens in Colonie. Anyone wishing to attend may meet inside the entrance of the cemetery at 11:15 a.m.
