Robert J. Denault

Albany- Robert J. DeNault, 80, passed away July 20th, 2015 with his family by his side. Robert was the son of the late Albert & Anna Mae DeNault (Kohler).

Robert grew up in Lansingburgh before moving to Albany to raise his family. He was a veteran of the United States Navy where he was honorably discharged. He then met his wife Joan and they raised five children here in Albany. He worked for Normanskill Dairy, Capital Newspapers and Durham Bus Company where he drove a school bus with his wife close by as his aide. Robert enjoyed family trips to Wildwood, weekend family visits, trips to Atlantic City & old movies. Robert was an avid sports fan, especially of the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Dodgers. He even coached his sons' baseball teams.

Robert is survived by his five children: Robin (Jeffrey) Cobb, Dawn Donovan, Robert (Maryanne) DeNault, Daniel (Paula) DeNault and Doreen (Robert) Weidman. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren: Matthew, Kristin and Jenna Cobb, Meghan and Sean Donovan, Dante, Arianna and Dylan DeNault, Peyton and Ryan DeNault and R.J. and Amanda Weidman. Robert is also survived by his companion and Godsend Gabriella Rehm. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Robert is predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Joan Urban DeNault. Robert is also predeceased by his brother Albert "Norman" DeNault.

Calling hours will be held Friday July 24th, 2015 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205. A mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday July 25th, 2015 at 9:30am at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Dr, Albany, NY 12211. Interment will follow the mass at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
