Robert J. Des Chenes

Pattersonville- Robert J. Des Chenes, 70, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 15, 2016.

Robert was born in Schenectady and lived most of his life in the area. He served in the United States Navy and was employed for many years as an Electrician with General Electric. Robert shared his lifelong love of playing guitar and sharing music with his friends and family. He enjoyed camping, boating, water skiing, amusement parks, goofing around and spending quality time with his family creating memories as often as possible. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Robert is predeceased by his wife Laura A. Des Chenes, his mother Lillian, and his brothers John and Mark.

He is survived by his father, Jean; his brother, Gary; his children, Robert Jr., Joseph, Melissa, and Matthew; his grandchildren, Emily, Madelyn, Grace, and Jack; and his nieces, Kimberly, Sherry, and Angela; and his faithful canine companion, Luke. He is also lucky to be survived by many incredible friends who were always there for him, as he was for them.

The family would like to thank Hospice for their care, comfort, and support during this very difficult time.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 from 3pm-6pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A funeral service will immediately follow at 6pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting that donations be made to create a scholarship for Matthew, Robert's youngest son who is currently attending college as Robert's greatest wish was to see him graduate from college without financial burden.
