TROY – Robert J. Hooten, 78, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 7, 2012 with his loving family by his side. Born in Grady, AL he was the son of the late Willie J. and Jonnie M. Hooten. He retired from Union Local #190.
Robert is the beloved husband of 54 years to Mary Lou Hooten. He is the devoted father of Sharlyn Williams, Ida Gibson-Canty (Meshach), Mary Jane Hooten, Robert (Colleen) Hooten Jr., Victor (Alma) Hooten, Melvin Hooten, Pauline Hooten, Roger Myers and the late James and Jerome Hooten. In addition to his parents and sons, Robert was predeceased by a son-in-law, Timothy Gibson and five brothers and two sisters. Also surviving is a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 2900 5th Ave., Troy. Calling hours will precede the service from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery, Albany.
