Robert J. Keller

ALBANY-Robert J. "Buck" Keller of Albany, NY passed away August 10, 2014, age 84, after a long illness. Born in White River, SD, he spent his youth as a cowpuncher in the Great Plains of his beloved Midwest.
In 1951, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served a tank gunner/commander in Korea. Returning from Korea, he became a drill instructor as MCRD San Diego, where he met the love of his life, June "Jody" Dandrow. Thereafter, he became a helicopter mechanic and then crew chief of a Marine UH-34D search and rescue team.
Honorably discharged in 1965, Buck and Jody moved the family to Sioux City, IA for a few years before settling in Plattsburgh, NY in the late-60s where he worked for the City of Plattsburgh, and they raised five children, Russell (Jeanne) of Syracuse, David (Ginny) of Sidney, Kathleen (Jay Passalacqua) of Las Vegas, John (Liz) of Albany and Steven of Latham.
In the mid-70s, Buck became a long-haul trucker, crisscrossing the U.S. for over a decade, before returning to Albany, NY (where Jody had relocated) to work for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in the mid-90s.
He was predeceased by his parents, Russell James and Margaret Ruth Keller (Wolfe), sister Rita Crake, and his daughter Kathy. He is survived by his wife Jody, his four sons, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, his sisters, Sister Doctor Myrtle Keller of San Diego and Mrs. Mary Ann Petty and brother, Henry, both of Sioux City.
A private ceremony will be held at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home on Friday.
