SCHENECTADY - Robert J. Velett, 70, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Ellis Hospital.
He was born on December 7, 1942 in Schenectady to the late Harold and Muriel (Kreiger) Velett.
Robert worked for M & M Mailing Mail Processing in Schenectady and prior the Capital District Mailing Co. He enjoyed shuffle board, playing cards on Wednesday nights, watching NASCAR racing, bowling, softball, dancing and most sports.
He was a member of the Moose Club and former member of the VFW Post in Schenectady.
Robert is survived by his loving companion, Thelma Zeininger; his wife, Marion Velett; his daughters, Maryann Peterson, Danielle Dean and Sharon Anderson; his sons, Robert J. Velett Jr. and Harold Velett; his step-daughters, Billie Jo Griffin and Jackie Foti; his brothers, Warren "Butch" Velett, James Clark, Joseph Clark, and Ricky (Laurie) Kreiger; his sisters, Sandra Bradt, Linda Bonk and Donna (Joseph) Merwin; 12 grandchildren; three great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and special friends, Joann Alison and Carl Cohen. He was predeceased by brother, Lawrence "Doc" Velett.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Interment will take place at a later date at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
