Robert M. Jones, Sr.

East Greenbush - Robert M. Jones, Sr., 90, passed away Saturday June 22, 2024 in the comfort of his home which he had shared with his late wife, Loretta Jones (La Mountain), as a devoted husband of 63 years. Robert (Bob) was the eldest child of the late Merrimon and Florence Jones.

After graduating from Columbia High School, Bob enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served until his honorable discharge. Bob also worked as a Machinist for Winthrop Labs/Sterling Drug until his retirement in 1995.

Bob was also a proud member of the Holy Spirit Church and attended weekly mass.

Bob was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hiking, biking, camping, and canoeing. He also had a special place in his heart for dogs and was the family dog whisperer. Bob was also a fan of jazz, classical and anything you could cut a rug to, which he and Loretta did quite often in their younger days.

Bob was the devoted and beloved father of Robert Jones Jr (Maryann), John Jones (Darlene), Laurie Jones-Bliven (Dan) and Linda Mertlik (Chuck). He had a special place in his heart for each of his grandchildren, Ashley Palmer (Jimmy), Rebecca Allen (George), Nathaniel Jones (Stine), Zachariah Jones, Sarah Mertlik, Emeline Jones, and Daniel Jones, including eleven great-grandchildren. Bob is survived by his sister Carolyn Van Amerongen and pre-deceased by his brother Charles E. Jones.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Monday, July 1, 2024 at 9:15am followed by his funeral Mass starting at 10:00am at Holy Spirit Church, 667 Columbia Turnpike, East Greenbush, NY 12061. Interment will be at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871 at 2:00pm.
